Talkeetna - a Winter Wonderland

Don’t miss out on one of Alaska’s best kept secrets… wintertime in Talkeetna! Just a short 2-hour drive from Anchorage, Talkeetna is a convenient and fun winter destination for nordic skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding and snowmobiling. Just a short trip across the frozen river gives snowmobilers access to miles of trails north of the Petersville Road in nearby Trapper Creek. Then come warm-up in Talkeetna after a long day of riding! Take a flight above the Alaska Range for some spectacular winter views of the frozen rivers and landscapes below. New to our winter activities are zipline tours with Denali Zipline, ice fishing tours with Dave Fish Alaska, and fat tire and cross country ski rentals from North Shore Cyclery. In the evenings, enjoy arts and entertainment, chase the Northern Lights (undisturbed by city lights), or take part in one of our unique community classes! These range from pie making classes, to solar power classes, or just relaxing by a fire with a good book from our public library or one of the bookstores — it’s a great way to spend a winter . When you come to Talkeetna you’re in for a special treat and memorable lifetime experiences.
