All Trails 5K & 10K Race and Fundraiser for SVS PTSA

Join us for a great run just after the noontime Talkeetna downtown parade!
Bring (or rent) a bike and peddle to the start/finish line. Swimming, boating and fishing opportunities abound in Talkeetna Lakes Park. Rent a canoe in advance, bring your towel and swim suit for an at-your-own-risk post-race dip in the lakes (no lifeguards on duty). Enjoy the day and celebrate the holiday with us while supporting a super small-town non-profit in need of your donations.
This 4th of July run takes place on the Talkeetna Lakes Trail System, a beautiful and peaceful boreal forest that circumnavigates a series of natural lakes. A variety of Alaskan wildlife including loons, and other bird life are seen here. Both distances have viewpoints of the Alaska Range. The race start and end is at the Whigmi Road Trailhead, conveniently located 3.5 miles from downtown Talkeetna. The race is entirely on maintained unpaved trails. Both distances are loops. 5K has moderate hills and wide grass trail, 10K is both wide grass and dirt hiking trail, some steeper hills. You may run or walk either distance of the Talkeetna All Trails. This race is timed. Porta-potties will be at the start/ finish area. All race helpers are volunteers, including race organizers. All funds, after expenses, benefit Susitna Valley School Parent Teacher Student Association (SVS PTSA) which serves our local students in grades six through twelve. Susitna Valley School is a Title 1 School and the PTSA provide much-needed support to students. Our ongoing programs of support are; college scholarships, sports, art club, free healthy foods provided daily, teacher classroom mini-grants, and afterschool activities and transportation services.
RACE DETAILS:
SAME DAY REGISTRATION/ BIB PICK UP: Talkeetna Downtown Park from 9:00 am- 11:00 OR at the start: Whigmi Trailhead, between 1:00 PM-1:45 PM START TIMES: 10 K: 2:00 PM, 5 K: 2:15 PM AID STATIONS: One for each distance midway through, and water and food at the finish. AWARDS and FINISH: Awards immediately following race, at Whigmi trailhead parking area – Given to the overall top three finishers of each distance and category: Youth, Junior, Adult, Master All finishers receive a T-shirt! PARKING: Follow signs to the DOT gravel pit and walk a short distance to the starting line, Talkeetna Spur Road mile marker 10.5. Gravel pit is located between the Flying Squirrel Bakery Cafe and Whigmi Road. Bicycle parking is available at the starting area.
