Description

Flying Squirrel Bakery Cafe is a casual deli-style eatery located three miles up the road from Talkeetna. Our varied menu of hearty and wholesome foods is available for eat-in or take-out throughout the morning, afternoon and evening year round.

Enjoy fresh pastries, artisan brick oven breads and creative grilled panini sandwiches, soups, quiches, salads and more. Our unique, hand built wood-fired brick oven is located in the middle of the space and is used for baking most of the breads, roasting vegetables and cooking pizzas. Wood-fired pizza nights feature a simple, gourmet pizza menu, perfectly crisp whole wheat sourdough crust and a different green salad each week. We also have an unique and tasty selection of beer and wine.

The bright atmosphere with monthly art shows hanging on the walls is especially inviting for enjoying an organic, Alaska-roasted espresso drink, loose leaf tea, or homemade sparkling rhubarb-ade. Free WIFI and a public use computer are available for customers.

We use organic and Alaska Grown products when we can, are proud to support other Alaska small businesses with our purchasing dollars, and try hard to make conscientious choices that have a positive impact on food culture and security, the environment, and our local community. The bakery smelled familiar, like my dad's Skokie pastry shop...but this was in the middle of nowhere. Were my eyes deceiving me? Challah? Ruggelach? Poppy seed, cocoa coffee cake? OMG! I couldn't resist. My wife and I shared a HUGE slice of the moist and flavorful cake, just like my dad used to make. I didn't have a chance to thank you at the reception... The appetizers and dinner went very well with the group. After I sat down from the buffet...I looked around and started sobbing uncontrollably in my napkin since everything was so overwhelmingly perfect! The wedding cake was just fabulous! Thank you SO much!!! We had a spectacular time, it was a spectacular event. You played a major roll in making that happen! I hope that photographers...got footage of the incredible spread!

Delightful and delicious! Artsie coffee shop cafe meets elevated comfort food. So many choices- lots that are healthy and most are familiar with a quirky twist. I ate dessert first with a big smile in my face. Relaxed unpretentious atmosphere with a feast for your eyes as well as your belly. The staff is kind and patient! I recommend the Flying Squirrel to any one in the Talkeetna area.
